gut

so I finally got out on another ride today. it was a balmy 45F and the roads were clear so I went for it. of course I ended up getting rained on and even a touch of hail just for kicks so I totally ended up coming home freezing cold anyway... go figure.

anyway, I was getting dressed to go ride and I noticed it was a little harder to bend over than normal... hey what's all this fat doing on my belly?! and who put it there?! holy moly, I've got my work cut out for me this year!

I was thinking maybe I could just schedule regular liposuctions so that I don't have to change my current eating habits... what do you think? I guess it wouldn't change the fact that I gotta start getting some miles in though.

so bummed I didn't get to post this before our marathon trip back east, but anyway better late than never I guess. the Saturday before we left I made my first foray into the backcountry for a little snowboarding. granted it wasn't that big of a deal because it's a popular mountain for that sort of thing and it was a bit tracked out by the time I got there, but it was still cool and totally beautiful if you couldn't tell by the picture! hiked up Tumalo Mountain (7,775 ft.) and then got a nice ride back down on my board. wish I would've had time for more. next time I guess ;-)

Gotta love Sheetz!

The best gas station in the world (in my opinion anyway). I love Sheetz. There's touch screens inside where you can pick what you want to eat and what you want on it. Gotta love PA for the killer selection of junk food!

Why no one understands cyclists

This is why non-cyclists are so confused when they hear us talk.

running on ice

running on ice isn't so bad... you just have to be prepared to slip on every single step

snow, snow and more snow

this is what my street looks like right now

how am I supposed to ride in this? it's been below freezing for weeks now. I've adjusted to the point where 24F now feels balmy, but the roads are totally covered in ice and snow making it nearly impossible to even run on, let alone ride a bike.

anyone know anything about cross-country skiing or snowshoeing? or where to get good deals on equipment for that stuff? I think I'm going to have to switch sports and do some serious cross-training for the winter.

in case you're ever racing in Brazil

in case you ever find yourself racing in Brazil (since I now have a Brazilian teammate), here are some phrases you might use:

E: Nice line you mongral!
P: linha bonita você mongral!

E: my game is air tight, yours is limp like a sack of oatmeal.
P: o meu jogo é o ar apertado, seu é frouxo como um saco da farinha de aveia.

E: if my sprint was that weak, I'd quit altogether and take up lawn bowling.
P: se a minha corrida de curta distância foi que débil, eu pararia completamente e tomaria em cima do jogo de boliche de gramado.

E: these here are monster quads, bitch.
P: esses aqui são o quádruplo de monstro, a cadela.

-thanks Kalen ;-)
